OUR PRESENT WEBSITE PRACTICE

The current FWS website does not use advertising trackers, analytics scripts, cookies, or browser storage. The contact form sends inquiries to FWS through its website submission service and Microsoft email service. Newsletter subscriptions are not yet available; no email addresses are collected for this purpose.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the official websites and online services operated by Famuya Wale So (“FWS,” “we,” “our,” or “us”), including:

  • famuyawaleso.org, famuyawaleso.com, and famuyawaleso.net;
  • fwspublishing.org, fwspublishing.com, and fwspublishing.net; and
  • pages, forms, and services that expressly link to this Policy.

It explains what information may be received, why it may be used, how it may be protected, and the choices available to you.

2. Information We Receive

Depending on how you interact with FWS, we may receive information that you choose to provide, such as:

  • your name and email address;
  • your organization, professional affiliation, or area of interest;
  • the subject and content of an inquiry;
  • information submitted with a manuscript, proposal, partnership request, application, or other contribution; and
  • your request to receive FWS news, publications, or event updates.

Please do not submit confidential, sensitive, or legally protected information unless FWS has specifically requested it through an appropriate channel.

3. Current Website Forms

When you submit the contact form, your name, email address, selected inquiry category, and message are transmitted to the FWS website submission service and sent to contact@famuyawaleso.org through Microsoft email services. Your email address is included so that FWS can reply. The inquiry is retained as email, including a copy in the sending mailbox’s Sent Items.

Newsletter subscriptions are marked as coming soon. No active subscription form collects or transmits your details to a newsletter service. If FWS activates newsletter, registration, donation, commerce, application, or additional submission services, we will identify the relevant service and update this Policy before or when that collection begins. You may also contact FWS using the institutional email addresses published on the website.

4. Technical Information

Like most websites, our hosting and network providers may automatically process limited technical information necessary to deliver and secure the website. This may include an Internet Protocol address, browser and device type, requested page, date and time of access, referring page, and security or error logs.

FWS does not currently place advertising cookies, behavioral-tracking technologies, or independent analytics scripts on the website. If that practice changes, this Policy and any required consent mechanism will be updated.

5. How Information Is Used

When FWS receives personal information through the contact form, email, or another activated service, it may be used to:

  • respond to inquiries and requests;
  • provide requested publications, news, or event information;
  • evaluate manuscripts, proposals, applications, or potential collaborations;
  • administer programs, events, fellowships, research, publishing, and institutional relationships;
  • protect the security, integrity, and lawful operation of our services;
  • comply with legal obligations; and
  • improve our public service and institutional communications.

FWS will not use personal information for materially unrelated purposes without an appropriate basis or notice.

6. Sharing and Disclosure

FWS does not sell or rent personal information. Information may be shared only when reasonably necessary:

  • with personnel or advisers who require it for legitimate FWS work and are expected to protect it;
  • with service providers supporting hosting, communications, events, publishing, security, or other authorized operations;
  • to comply with law, legal process, or a valid governmental request;
  • to protect the rights, safety, property, or integrity of FWS, its community, or the public; or
  • with your direction or consent.

7. Retention and Security

FWS intends to retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was received, for legitimate institutional records, or as required by law. Retention periods may differ according to the nature of the communication or activity.

We use reasonable organizational and technical safeguards appropriate to the information and our operations. No method of online transmission or storage can, however, be guaranteed completely secure.

8. Your Choices and Requests

You may ask FWS to correct, update, or delete personal information that you have provided, subject to applicable law and legitimate institutional recordkeeping. You may also withdraw from future newsletters or general updates at any time.

To make a privacy request, contact us using the information below. We may need to verify your identity and clarify the information concerned before completing a request.

9. Children’s Privacy

Our general website is intended for a broad public and is not designed to collect personal information knowingly from children under thirteen. If FWS develops a program specifically involving minors, it will establish appropriate notices, permissions, and safeguards for that program.

10. International Visitors

FWS is rooted in Africa and open to the world. Visitors and correspondents may therefore interact with us from many countries. Information provided to FWS may be processed in a country whose privacy rules differ from those of your place of residence. FWS will seek to handle such information consistently with this Policy and applicable legal obligations.

11. External Links and Services

Our websites may link to independent websites, booksellers, event platforms, payment services, social networks, or other third-party resources. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. FWS is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of an independent service merely because we provide a link to it.

12. Changes to This Policy

FWS may revise this Policy as its website, programs, legal obligations, or information practices develop. The effective date at the top of this page will identify the current version. Material changes will be communicated in an appropriate manner.
