ACCESS IS PART OF HUMAN DIGNITY

Accessibility is not merely a technical requirement. It is part of ensuring that people can encounter ideas, participate in public life, and contribute their knowledge with dignity.

1. Our Commitment

Famuya Wale So (“FWS”) seeks to welcome the widest possible public into its intellectual and institutional work. We aim to provide a website that can be perceived, understood, navigated, and used by people with different visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, linguistic, technological, and situational needs.

This commitment applies to the official FWS and FWS Publishing websites, including famuyawaleso.org, famuyawaleso.com, famuyawaleso.net, fwspublishing.org, fwspublishing.com, and fwspublishing.net.

2. Our Accessibility Goal

FWS uses the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, Level AA (“WCAG 2.2 AA”) as its continuing accessibility target. These internationally recognized guidelines address principles including perceivability, operability, understandability, and robustness.

This statement expresses our goal and continuing work. It is not a claim that every page, downloadable document, embedded resource, or third-party service has already been independently audited or formally certified as fully conformant.

3. Measures We Take

As the website develops, FWS seeks to incorporate accessibility through measures such as:

  • semantic page structure and meaningful heading order;
  • keyboard-accessible navigation and controls;
  • visible focus states and clear link purposes;
  • text alternatives for meaningful images;
  • sufficient color contrast and readable type;
  • responsive layouts that adapt to different screen sizes;
  • labels and instructions for forms;
  • content that does not depend on color alone;
  • plain, descriptive error and confirmation messages; and
  • review of new pages and materials as resources permit.

4. Using This Website

The site is designed to support common browsers and devices, enlargement and zoom, keyboard navigation, and assistive technologies that follow current web standards.

Helpful adjustments

  • Use your browser’s zoom controls to enlarge text and images.
  • Use the Tab key to move through links and interactive controls, and Enter or Space to activate them where supported.
  • Use your device’s built-in contrast, text-size, reading, voice-control, or screen-reader settings.
  • Disable animations through your device’s reduced-motion preference where motion is present.

FWS does not require visitors to use a particular assistive technology or browser. Experience may nevertheless vary according to the combination of device, software, settings, and connection.

5. Documents, Publications, Images, and Media

FWS publishes or links to material in several formats, including HTML pages, images, downloadable documents, books, event files, and resources created at different times. We seek to make essential information available in accessible form and to improve older materials progressively.

If a PDF, image, publication excerpt, audio or video item, calendar file, or other resource is not usable with your technology, contact us. When reasonably possible and lawful, we will seek to provide the information in an alternative format or assist you in obtaining it.

6. Known and Possible Limitations

Despite our efforts, some parts of the current website may not yet provide an ideal experience for every visitor. Possible limitations include:

  • older pages whose structure or controls were created before the current accessibility standard was adopted;
  • complex maps, decorative symbols, historical images, or publication covers for which a complete textual equivalent may require further development;
  • downloadable documents or archival materials whose original formatting is difficult to convert without altering the work;
  • content supplied by authors, partners, publishers, booksellers, event providers, or other third parties; and
  • temporary inconsistencies introduced while pages are being updated.

Identifying a limitation is part of correcting it. We welcome specific reports.

7. Third-Party Services

Some links may lead to independent booksellers, publishers, payment services, event platforms, archives, social networks, or partner institutions. FWS does not control the accessibility of an independent service. We encourage those providers to offer inclusive access and will consider accessibility when selecting or reviewing services where practical.

8. Requesting Assistance or an Alternative Format

If you encounter a barrier, please tell us:

  • the page address or title;
  • the content, control, or task you were trying to access;
  • the nature of the difficulty;
  • the browser, device, or assistive technology involved, if you are comfortable sharing it; and
  • the format or assistance that would be most useful.

You are not required to disclose a disability. Provide only the information needed for us to understand and respond to the barrier.

9. Accessibility Feedback and Response

We will acknowledge accessibility communications when reasonably possible, examine the issue, and seek an appropriate response according to its impact, complexity, and available resources. Some corrections may be immediate; others may require redesign, document remediation, consultation with a provider, or an alternative way of delivering the information.

Accessibility requests and feedback may be sent to:

Famuya Wale So
contact@famuyawaleso.org
contact@fwspublishing.org

Please include “Accessibility Request” in the subject line.

10. Continuing Improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing responsibility rather than a one-time declaration. FWS will review this statement and its digital practices as the institution, website, publishing activity, technologies, and recognized standards develop.

We are grateful to visitors who help us see barriers that we may not yet have recognized.
